Pair of Italian Faenza maiolica polychrome albarelli, 16th century, one decorated with a portrait roundel of a bearded man in toga and the label 'Vargilio' above the inscription 'Dia.fribuf' in gothic script, the other albarello with a portrait roundel of a soldier with the label 'Fabio' above the inscription 'Sy.de.onphafu' in gothic script, all against panels and bands enclosing scrolling foliage and stylized acanthus leaves, height: approx. 12 1/2in., 31.6cm; condition: one with hairline and two chips to footrim, the other with small chip to footrim.
