Chinese verte-imari charger, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated with a central roundel enclosing five fish swimming among shells and weeds, bordered by a band of floral cartouches and flowerheads against a diaper ground, the cavetto with four ogee-shaped panels enclosing branches of flowering chrysanthemum, reserved against peony flowers and scrolling leafy vines on a hatched ground, the rim with a band of floral cartouches and flowerheads against a diaper ground, the reverse with scrolling foliage and flowers, diameter: 18in., 46.5cm; condition: chip and fritting to rim.
