Chinese grisaille 'European Subject' teabowl and saucer, c. 1750, Qianlong (1736-95), with foliate rim, decorated in the centre with a courting lady and gallant in European dress seated beneath a tree, with a further amorous couple in a thicket in the background, the border with Dutch over-painted sprays of flowers and fruiting branches, diameter of saucer: 4 3/4in.,12cm; condition: chip to rim of saucer, hairline to rim of teabowl, minute friting to edges.
