Fine Safavid fritware dish, 17th century, with a gently lobed rim and decorated in a bright underglaze blue in the Kraak style; with a central floral-shaped roundel containing a jardiniere with root-like growths, containing an assortment of flowers and foliage, against a ground of foliate scrolls; the wide rim divided into six large panels containing alternating cartouches with peacocks perching amongst flowers or tasselled scrolls, separated by narrow sections with stylised pendant tassels; the reverse with six further compartments with sprays of foliate fruit divided by narrow sections to the rim and a square pseudo-mark to the base.

Hair-line near base; foot rim chipped; four small chips to rim and three small frits; please see images.
